80 Students Participate in Career Guidance and STEM Mentorship Seminar Organized by Spring-UP Global Network and Nana Churcher Multimedia

As part of this year’s International Day of Education, Spring-UP Global Network, supported by Nana Churcher Multimedia, held a career guidance and STEM mentorship seminar for the students of Agbekotsekpo D/A Basic School in the Shai Osudoku District of the Greater Accra Region on Thursday, January 23rd, 2025.

The ‘Mentor Me’ program provided a platform for professionals in various STEM fields to impart wisdom, share experiences, and guide learners in choosing the right careers to succeed in this 21st century. The mentors shared insights on emerging career pathways in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and the Creative Arts.

The guest speaker for the seminar, Mrs. Ivana Amponsah from the HUD Group, shared valuable insights on career guidance, purpose discovery, and mastery. This was followed by a panel discussion featuring volunteers from the Spring-UP Global Network, who are professionals studying and working in various STEM careers.

A total of 80 students, including Primary 6 and Junior High School students, attended the event. The seminar equipped the children with tools to shape their mindsets, behaviours, and decision-making abilities regarding their future careers.

The Executive Director of Spring-UP Global Network, Akorfa Ama Akoto, donated exercise books and other learning supplies to the school on behalf of Spring-UP Global Network and Nana Churcher Multimedia. Responding to the donation, the headmaster, Mr Joseph Danso, said, “Spring-UP Global Network has been a great support to our school since they first engaged us in 2021. We are so grateful for all you do for this school.”

The NGO used the opportunity to inspect the school library, which it renovated and opened on 31 March 2022, as part of its flagship programme, the iRead iLead Campaign.
