Spring‑UP Global Network, in partnership with BrainWave Africa Tech, has successfully facilitated a hands-on Artificial Intelligence (AI) training for children selected from schools within the Osu Presbyterian Cluster of Schools. The training forms part of BrainWave’s AI Explorers Club initiative, which aims to equip young learners with future-ready skills in technology, creativity, and problem-solving.

The training session took place in the Osu Presbyterian Cluster of Schools Library, one of the ten (10) fully equipped literacy and learning spaces established by Spring‑UP Global Network under its iRead iLead Campaign in October 2022. The library, which serves hundreds of learners in the Osu community, transformed into a dynamic hub for innovation as children explored foundational AI concepts and engaged with practical technology tools.

Over several weeks, participants immersed themselves in activities designed to introduce them to AI, machine learning, and real-world applications of emerging technologies. Facilitators from BrainWave Africa Tech guided learners through exercises that encouraged exploration, experimentation, and the development of creative solutions using AI tools. The programme also challenged children to think beyond simply using technology and to begin imagining how they can create with it to address real-world challenges.

Speaking on the collaboration, Spring‑UP Global Network noted that the initiative aligns with its mission to expand learning opportunities for children in underserved communities by integrating literacy, mentorship, and STEAM education. “Libraries should be more than just book spaces; they should be launchpads for discovery,” the team shared. “We are excited to see our learning environments supporting innovation, technology exposure, and lifelong skills development.”

Strong partnerships drove the success of Cohort 6. Spring‑UP Global Network worked closely with BrainWave Africa Tech to deliver the programme, with support from Hubtel, helping to make this cohort possible.
The successful training marks another milestone in Spring‑UP Global Network’s commitment to preparing learners, especially those in under-resourced schools, for the fast-changing world of work. Through continued partnerships and strategic programming, the organisation aims to empower more children across Ghana with both foundational literacy and future-ready competencies.
