Spring-UP Global Network (SUGN) with support from a philanthropist, Mr. Alphaeus Addae-Mensah donated 145 Mathematical sets to BECE candidates in three schools within the Osu Cluster of Schools on Thursday October 13.
The beneficiary schools were Osu Manhean Basic, St. Barnabas Anglican Basic School and St. Peter’s R/C Basic School, all within the Osu Cluster of Schools.
The School Improvement Support Officer (SISO) for Osudoku Circuit Mrs. Vida Osei Koranteng, who led the volunteers from SUGN for the donation, commended Spring-UP Global Network for the initiative to adequately resource the children ahead of their Basic Education Certificate Exams(BECE). The candidates happily received the Math sets and assured the organization of their readiness to ace the exams.
President of SUGN, Akorfa Ama Akoto emphasized the importance of personal development to the candidates during their wait for their BECE results. She used the opportunity to mention the ongoing library refurbishment project ongoing in the Osu Cluster of schools funded by Deloitte and implemented by Spring-UP Global Network under Deloitte’s ‘WorldClass Initiative’ and invited the children to the commissioning of the library which will be due in November.
The one-day visit forms part of SUGN’s “Mentor Me”, an initiative aimed at introducing pre-tertiary students to emerging 21st century career opportunities and resourcing them with school supplies.
This adds to SUGN’s donation to the 30 candidates of the Dichemso M/A JHS on October 6 and 20 candidates of the Rev. Lartey Adotey Memorial School on October 7.
In all, SUGN has visited 5 schools in the Greater Accra and Ashanti regions ahead of this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) and organized a STEM mentorship and donated 195 Math sets, pens and pencils to BECE candidates.
Project Assistant, Osborn Apeku and Finance Lead, Gifty Kankam also represented Spring-UP Global Network at the program.
